The proposed project would provide a safe and efficient transportation facility for local and regional commuters by reducing delays associated with congestion and improving safety.

Currently, 36th Street is a four-lane roadway from its intersection with N-370 south to Bline Avenue, where it tapers back to a two-lane roadway and remains two-lane to Platteview Road.

  • The proposed project alignment is in a developing urban area. The existing land use along the project corridor is residential development, schools, churches, park/open space, and farmland.

  • The purpose of this project is to improve local traffic operations along 36th Street between Bline Avenue and Platteview Road to facilitate the safe and efficient movement of existing traffic, and to accommodate future traffic volumes and travel demands along the 36th Street corridor.

  • The project will be broken into two phases. Phase 1 will cover Bline Avenue to Sheridan Road. Phase 2 will follow, continuing south to Platteview Road.
